Berinsfield Parish Council is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a full-time Administrative Assistant to join its officer team.
This is a new permanent position, created to strengthen the Parish Council’s administrative capacity and support the continued development of its services, facilities and community activities.
The successful candidate will work directly with the Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer, providing administrative, operational and customer service support across a broad range of Parish Council responsibilities.
The role will include:
- responding to enquiries from residents, contractors, councillors and partner organisations
- maintaining accurate records and administrative systems
- updating the Parish Council website and social media
- supporting the administration of the allotments, burial ground, Recreation Ground, play areas and open spaces
- assisting with projects, inspections, maintenance and contractor arrangements
- helping with the production and distribution of Berinsfield Village Voice
- attending occasional evening meetings and events
Supporting Berinsfield Sports Pavilion
A significant part of the role will involve supporting the management and development of Berinsfield Sports Pavilion.
The Administrative Assistant will help administer bookings, promote the Pavilion to prospective hirers and identify opportunities to increase its use and income.
They will also support work to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs and strengthen the long-term financial sustainability of the building. This will help the Parish Council continue providing a high-quality community facility while limiting pressure for future increases in hire charges.
About the position
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Salary: NJC SCP 12–17, £28,598–£31,022 per annum
Location: Primarily home-based, with attendance at Parish Council locations in Berinsfield when required
Normal working hours will be 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday, although some flexibility may be available to suit the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be organised, proactive and approachable, with strong communication, administrative and IT skills. Previous local government experience would be helpful but is not essential, and appropriate training and professional development will be provided.
